Three very different day trips are on offer, to the north lies the lakes and mountains of Connemara, to the south the Craggy rocks, cliffs and caves of the Burren whilst nestled in the middle of the bay are the windswept gaelic speaking Aran islands.     Connemara > the region of Connemara is a veritable wilderness of mountains, lakes and wet boglands. Simply a short drive north of Galway, it is also well serviced by bus tours. Its rugged coastline is hugged by many isolated beaches and Connemara national park will introduce you to the many unique aspects of this unspoilt environment.

    Kylemore abbey, Clifden town, Roundstone and the fjord of Killary harbour are all must see spots, your host Sorcha is more then happy to help you plan your driving route..

    Aran Islands > A string of 3 jewels at the mouth of Galway bay, the Aran Islands are made up of Inis Mor, Inis Meain & Inis Oirr each offering a wealth of insight into Gaelteacht island culture. Authentic crafts and living tradition offer a welcome break from the fast paced mainland of modern Ireland. Visit the well renowned ancient forts such as Dun Aengus, natural limestone phenomena such as Poll na bpeist (the worm hole) or appreciate the textured patterns in the traditional Aran knitwear.

    Explore the early Christian settlements or indeed take a bike ride to more secluded spots why not enjoy a gourmet picnic and truly feel you have discovered real Ireland.

    The Burren > In stark contrast to the mountainous and boggy landscape to the north,The Burren lying south of Galway, is a unique limestone region known for its spectacular cliffs, stunning surf beaches and lunar like landscape. Home to herds of wild goats and a unique selection of flora & fauna,here you will find both arctic and subtropical plants growing side by side. A hillwalkers delight, the region boasts its own species of butterfly & the famed gentian violet, a delicate and rare mountain flower.
